Edward Hannahan Obituary

HANNAHAN Edward Joseph Hannahan, Jr., a native of New Orleans, LA and a retired Petroleum Engineer with Gulf Oil Corporation, died Thursday, September 16, 2004 at East Jefferson General Hospital at the age of 82. He had resided in Bryan, Texas for the past 24 years, and he and his wife had recently moved back to the New Orleans area. Beloved husband for 57 years of Gloria Thibodaux Hannahan; devoted father of: Sharon Rose Hannahan and Kerry Hannahan Hutchinson; and brother of, Beryl Jane Hannahan. He is also survived by grandsons: David Edward Hutchinson and James Jeffrey Hutchinson; and his son-in-law, James P. Hutchinson. A proud member of the ""greatest generation,'' he served his country during World War II as a medic in the Third Army under General George Patton. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, earned the Bronze Star, and was discharged at the rank of Captain. After the war, he earned a petroleum engineering degree from Louisiana State University and spent most of his career with Gulf Oil Corporation before retiring in 1982. He was past chairman of the Mississippi Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. While living in Bryan, Texas, he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and had volunteered his time installing lifelines for senior citizens. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 3:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (Inside Metairie Cemetery) Interment to follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Please sign and view the family guestbook at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
