Elizabeth Kennedy Obituary

Elizabeth M. ("Chippy", "Liz") Kennedy, on March 9, 2023, age 71, at home in Metairie, Louisiana. She was born on January 10, 1952, the daughter of John R. Kennedy, Sr. (born in Columbia TN) and Jeanette Ellender Kennedy (born in Houma, LA). She is survived by her siblings, Philip H. Kennedy (Betty), Stephanie M. Kennedy Walthes (the late Tom), Richard D. Kennedy (Sally) and Ronald J. Kennedy (Liz) and a host of special nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. In death she joins her mother and father and her brother, John R. "Buddy" Kennedy, Jr. (the late Betsy). A lifelong resident of Metairie, LA, Elizabeth was a graduate of Ursuline Academy High School ('70) and Soule Business College where she trained to become a Legal Secretary. She worked as a Legal Secretary for Monroe & Lemon Law Firm and later at Stone Pigman Law Firm both in New Orleans. She also worked as a secretary for Pendleton Terminal Corporation in New Orleans. Elizabeth was a devoted member of Metairie Baptist Church for the past seventeen years. She attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) there where she completed the Bible Study full course several times. She attended The First Assembly of God Church in River Ridge prior to that. Elizabeth had a very close and loving relationship with God, always helping those in need and offering her prayers for everyone. She once said she wanted to be "A Fisher of Men", as in the Bible, and bring others to Christ. She had a beautiful way of expressing herself and wrote many loving and heartfelt letters to God, expressing her love and thankfulness to Him. She had such a beautiful way of praying. She loved animals and over her lifetime cared for many little cats, but loved all animals with a passion. She contributed to several animal causes and would do all she could to help them. But perhaps Elizabeth was best known for her kind and childlike spirit and her fun and loving personality. She could charm the youngest child and the oldest person she met and bring a smile or laugh to each. She quickly became friends with them all and she was loved by all. Her beautiful spirit will be cherished by us all and she will be loved and missed always, until we see her again. Elizabeth now rests in God's Loving Arms. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and will be announced at that time. Memorial gifts can be made, in her name, to Metairie Baptist Church, 401 Codifer Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005, or to one of her favorite charities, the SPCA or The Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to L.A. Muhleisen & Son.

Elizabeth, you will truly be missed. I loved our time over the years that we would spend together as I would do your hair. We talked about everything. Your love for Jesus, your sweet spirit, the genuine way you loved people, your funny wit, your charm and your laugh are the memories I will treasure and keep with me always I will never forget you my friend. Good bye for now, until we meet again, God willing, on streets of gold with our Heavenly Father
Love, Nicholle Daigrepont

We ony knew Liz for a short period of time over 30 years ago. She was a close and devoted friend to our mother for a few years before her death. They shared a deep religious relationship and attended the same church. Liz loved our mom and considered her a kindred spirit in Christ.

We don't think any words could better describe Liz than what was written in her obiturary. Reading them brought back memories of her kind and gentle nature, and that infectious smile. She was like no other.

Please accept our sincere condolences over her passing. We take comfort knowing that she is alive again in the loving arms of Jesus and singing and dancing with our mom.
