She is also survived by her sister Bobbie Scaglione and her children Lonnie Favre (Otis) and Mark Scaglione (Cheryl) and numerous nieces and nephews, and she just joined Joe Scaglione (husband of Bobbie) and Michael Scaglione (son of Bobbie and wife Judy) in Heaven. Gene was born in Monroe, LA and her family moved to Evergreen, LA for her childhood with her sister Bobbie Scaglione. Her family then moved to New Orleans and she attended John McDonogh High School who was known then as the Rosebuds – she attended many high school reunions with all her friends. She worked in the family business at Tulane stadium handling the food concessions and was fondly known as Miss Gene! She enjoyed parades and was a member of Napoleon for many years. She loved parties and dancing and was known to her grandchildren as Gene Gene the dancing machine! She truly knew how to enjoy life! She dated her best friend Asa French (deceased) for many years and rode on his motorcycle to Telluride, Colorado from Atlanta! She worked for Boeing and was transferred to Philadelphia and then she worked for Easter Seals and the Arthritis Foundation as a nonprofit fundraiser and was in charge of the telethons in Las Vegas and lived there for a short term! She was very good at fundraising. Her coworkers admired her and learned from her as she shared her knowledge and was always willing to help anyone. She was a big Saints fan and attended many games and parties if they played away. She will be greatly missed by her clan as we loved her dearly! In lieu of flowers, please make a donations to Raintree Children & Family Services, 1233 Eighth St., New Orleans, LA 70115. A graveside service will be held in Gene's memory on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 10:00 AM, in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, where she will be laid to eternal rest. I have so many wonderful, cherished memories of Miss Gene and all of her children with whom my brother Bob and I grew up with in Gentilly at the juncture of Mandeville and Madrid Streets. Our two families were very close and my Mom, Eva Lannes Probst, and Miss Gene were the best of friends and confidants. I'm sure they are in heaven at this moment reminiscing about those days and the happenings in that Gentilly neighborhood - very many good, happy times and a few difficult ones. Through it all, Miss Gene was one of the strongest willed, optimistic women I have ever known - a wonderful role model for everyone who knew her. After Katrina, our two families drifted apart (my Mom lost her home and I mine). Miss "E" spent her final days in Nashville, TN closet my brother's family (she passed on 2/15/16). The Probst family was indeed fortunate to live next to the Breeding family and had the privilege of having them as friends. Wonderful memories.
