He also attended All Saints Church, where he was baptized, received his first communion, and was confirmed. He completed his secondary education in the Orleans Parish Public School System as a proud graduate of L.B. Landry Jr. Sr. High School, class of 1975. He received his Master of Arts from Roosevelt University in Chicago Illinois, class of 2001. He was also a family man who enjoyed family functions, and cooking, his staple dish was the roast beef, his roasts were ALWAYS DELISH! Enjoyment also came from fishing and continuing his passion on the tennis court, the place where he met his late wife Joycene Ashford Roussell. Geno was a vibrant, loving, and compassionate person. He was an exceptionally kind older brother. He was incredibly smart, with knowledge that would escape most. He shared unconditional love with his family and friends. He showed his love through actions, good deeds, and was always willing to help others. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Joycene Ashford Roussell (2/10/2022), his father Eugene "Butsy" Roussell, Jr., sister Monica Leah, and brother-in-law Aubrey H. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Eugene and I didn´t talk much but when we did all we could talk about was times when we played tennis at Landry and my Dad (Pal). He would tell me about his business venture and how well things were going. Never complaining it was always good to heard from him no matter how long it had been. He will be truly missed.

I am deeply sorrow for your family´s loss and extend my prayers and condolences. Eugene and I were not only members of the class of `75, we were also band mates (clarinet). Thoughts of those times bring a smile to my face. I pray that in time, you too will think back on those days he made you all laugh.

Geno Roussell was one of my closest and dearest brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. I was teaching at Jarvis Christian College during his time as a student, and we became and remained tight for life.
We are lifting up his family in prayer that God's amazing grace, goodness and mercy will cover them as Geno makes his Glorious Transformation to rejoin his wife and other family members dearly departed. Rest in peace, frat. Missing you already.
