Eugene Savoie Obituary

Eugene Michael Savoie was called to heaven on June 24, 2024 at the age of 82. He died peacefully and among family who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Francis Savoie, Sr. and Doris Delhommer David and his brothers, Carl James Savoie, Eugene Francis Savoie, Jr. and Kenneth Michael David. He was also preceded in death by his much-loved wife, Barbara O'Leary Savoie (decd. February 28, 2024), who put up with him for 62 years of marriage. He was survived by his daughter, Gina Savoie Montgomery (Byron); his grandchildren, Mallory Christine Montgomery and Carl James Montgomery; his brother, Raymond Edward David, Jr. (Terri); his sisters, Ann Margaret David (Kristy) and Karen David Baudry (David); and nieces and nephews. Gene loved to listen to music and to play music, especially jazz and blues. He loved his family, but his wife, Barbara, was his life; he died of a broken heart. He is no longer in pain and in a better place. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Gene. Services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana 70072. Family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:30am. General visitation will be from 11:30am until 1:30pm followed by a Catholic Mass at Mothe Funeral Home. Gene will thereafter be interred at Gates of Heaven Mausoleum (Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Cemetery) in Westwego, Louisiana. Family and friends may offer condolences at mothefunerals.com.
