Francis J. 'Rooster' Altmyer

Francis J. "Rooster" Altmyer passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the age of 93. Brother of Isabelle A. Hill and the late Catherine Altmyer O'Connor, Peter J Altmyer Sr., Roy R. Altmyer and Jean Ann Altmyer. Son of the late Isabelle McMahon Altmyer and Frank J. Altmyer Jr. Uncle of Mary Altmyer Bagnetto (Charlie), Peter Altmyer Jr. (Liz), Frank Altmyer (Donna), Deborah Altmyer Richter (Terry), David Altmyer (Katie), Margaret Altmyer Koslosky (Andrew), Emily Hill McGaughey (Jerry), Janet Hill Bourgeois (Des), Jean Hill Barthel (Jeff), Cathy Altmyer Braud (Ray) and Mark Altmyer. He is also survived and loved by many great nieces, great nephews and friends. Mr. Altmyer attended St. Aloysius High School, served in the United States Navy, retired after 40 years with the TPMP Railroad. He enjoyed spending time at the New Orleans Fair Grounds and off-track betting parlors. Special thanks to St. Michael's Assisted Living for their loving care to "Mr. Rooster." Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Saturday, December 29, 2018, starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
