Frank Burke Obituary

Frank "Mickey" Ernest Burke Jr., 69, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Medical Center on Sunday, April 29, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Cynthia Castagnetta Burke; beloved daughter, Shelley Burke Rogers; son-in-law Tyson Rogers; and sons Scott Michael Burke and Mark Patrick Burke. Paw Paw was the world to his adoring grandchildren, Ella Elizabeth Rogers and Beckett Grayson Rogers. He is also survived by his siblings Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Burke McCrory (Jerry), Brian Burke (Susan), Bonnie Burke Boutte (Scott), as well as many nieces and nephews. Frank was born on August 28, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the beloved son of the late Frank Ernest Burke Sr. and Jeanne Durning Burke. Frank was a graduate of Holy Cross High School class of 1966 and Loyola University class of 1970. After a career in the banking industry, Frank pursued his Masters in Education to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming an educator. Upon receiving his Masters from the University of New Orleans, Frank taught at the high school level where he also served as head wrestling coach at Belle Chase High School for many years prior to his retirement in September 2017. Frank was a long time member of the Krewe of Thoth, 46 years, serving as an officer in the club for 30+ years. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, LLS.org. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70119 on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and continue until Mass time. Interment will follow at McDonoghville Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com.

I know I had not seen Mickey and the family for a few years on Carnival Day but I have such fond memories of the time we were all out there on St. Charles Av. My deepest condolences go out you.
