Frederick Bologna Obituary

BOLOGNA Frederick Anthony Bologna, a native New Orleanian, died peacefully at his Kenner home in the early hours of Jan. 9, 2013 at the age of 78. He was the only child of Anthony Alfred and Virginia Josephine (nee Porretto) Bologna; both of New Orleans. He is survived by his beloved wife; Donna Jo (nee Hudson) Bologna (formerly of Baton Rouge), his 3 children; Michael Bologna, Carla (Mrs. Keith) Hellmers, Leslyn (Mrs. Marc) Lorelli , 5 grandchildren; Elizabeth Anne Lorelli, Carrie Marie Hellmers, Catherine Suzanne Lorelli, Kristen Michelle Hellmers and Keith James Hellmers, Jr., dozens of nieces and nephews and scores of friends. Mr. Bologna was graduated from Holy Cross and attended Louisiana State University. He served proudly in the United States Army. He spent most of his professional life in Corporate Management, and was an active member of the Lakeside Lions Club. As a Lion, Mr. Bologna served in local, regional and state-wide offices. He was an avid lover of animals, spy novels and the music of his hometown. Visitation will be held Fri., Jan 11, 6p-9p, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie. Sat., Jan. 12, viewing will begin at 10:30a at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 4317 Richland Ave. with Mass at 12 noon. Friends are invited to join the family at Greenwood Cemetery for interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation (lioneyes.org). To Aunt Donna, Michael, Carla and Leslyn and families, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Fred will be missed. I pray for his peace and your peace. I worked with Fred at VW- So sorry to hear of his passing. Who could ever forget Fred with his smile & pipe. He will be sorely missed & we will have a mass said by the Jesuits at Fordahm U.
