Gabrielle Lois Holmes, 24, lost her life to depression on October 4, 2022 at her home in Kenner, LA. Gabrielle was born on March 6, 1998 to Jay and Sherry (Johnson) Holmes. Gabrielle is preceded in death by her loving grandfather, Keith Johnson, Sr.; and her grandmother, Clara Faye Dickerson. She is survived by her mother, Sherry Holmes of Kenner; her father, Jay Holmes of Hattiesburg; sister and spouse, Karley and Jacob Stafford; grandmother, Yolande Johnson; grandfather, Howard Gordon Sullivan; uncles and their spouses, Daniel and Colleen Johnson, Keith and Jessica Johnson; aunt, Pamela Lamontagne (John); and many cousins, Oliver, Luke, Levi, Bonnie, Claire, Paloma and Dottie. Gabrielle graduated from the University of Holy Cross with a BS in Psychology, Cum Laude, in May 2022 and was recently accepted into both University of New Orleans and University of Holy Cross Masters Programs. Gabrielle was a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and Hapkido, as Master in both Arts. Gabrielle spent most of her free time as a Karate instructor teaching young children in the Kenner community and gifting them with her love of the sport. Gabrielle was a beautiful soul, whose love for others spilled over and filled the hearts of everyone around her. There is an old saying - the brightest stars burn the fastest, so we must love them while we can. Gabrielle will forever be in our hearts. Her beautiful memories will live on in all of us as we remember the love and joy she brought to all of our lives. Incredibly smart, loving and dedicated to her family – Gabrielle will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services for Gabrielle will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Kenner, LA at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
