George Dennis Lopez Sr.

George Dennis Lopez, Sr. age 59, passed away in Houston, TX on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA on September 15, 1964, the youngest of nine children. He is preceded in death by parents, Guillermo E. Sr. and Demetria Arana Lopez; brothers, Guillermo E., Jr. and Mario R. Lopez; maternal grandparents, Trinidad and Hilaria Arana; paternal grandparents, Francisco Lopez, Petrona Ellis and step-grandmother, Beatrice Lopez. Survivors include four children, Robin, George, Jr., William and Maya; three granddaughters, London, Dakota, and Ivey; siblings, Irma Zonia and Ligia Bennett (Charles), Maximo (Janeth), José, Rigoberto (Lisa), Francisco (Annette) and Gary Hill (Karen), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Lopez was a 1982 graduate of Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School. He then served his country for four years as a member of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Upon returning to New Orleans, he enrolled and graduated from Southern University at New Orleans with a degree in political science, while aspiring to become an attorney. Following his military service, he continued to live a disciplined and meticulous life. He was passionate about studying the Word of God, traveling and volunteering to feed the homeless. He enjoyed sharing delicious meals and was an avid LSU and Saints fan. George was a jovial person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mr. George Dennis Lopez, Sr., will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 9:30 am.
