Glen Hanner Obituary

Glen Martin Hanner, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 15, 2024, at St. Tammany Hospital. Born on May 5, 1958, in New Orleans, Glen grew up in a loving family and graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1976 and later the University of New Orleans 1980. A longtime Mandeville resident he pursued a successful career as an insurance claims manager at Allstate, where he worked for 46 years before retiring in 2022. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen Regan, survived by his father Carroll Joseph Hanner, brother, Carroll Christopher Hanner (Patty). Glen is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Sandra Bagert, their children Gregory M. Hanner (Shanna Bankston), Brian N. Hanner & Jason P. Hanner. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Eliza & Elliott Hanner. Glen was a devoted family man, a committed husband whose selflessness and compassion touched everyone around him. An avid fisherman, he found joy in the outdoors and often shared his love for the sport with friends and family. Glen's generosity knew no bounds - he was always ready to lend a hand, offering support to anyone in need without hesitation (although a Diet Coke was always appreciated). He was not only a loyal friend to many but also a trusted guide and mentor in his professional life, leaving a lasting impact on countless individuals. Glen was a loving grandfather to his two grandchildren, Eliza and Elliott, who brought immense joy to his life. He cherished hosting family and friends for barbecues and crawfish boils and loved watching LSU and Saints football games together. Glen had a knack for tinkering with anything mechanical, always keeping himself busy with projects. When not spending time with his loved ones, he was dedicated to helping others, whether by leading food drives or participating in various community service efforts. Glen will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His legacy will live on through his three sons, grandchildren, as well as the hundreds of people he mentored throughout his distinguished career. He was the G.O.A.T.!!! Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans. A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at another time. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.greenwoodfh.com.
