Irene Spitko

Irene W. Spitko,100, formerly of Allentown, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Berks Heim Nursing Home, Leesport. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William James and Erma Mae (Erdell) Waters. Before retiring in 1987, she worked as a department manager at Zollinger Harned depart. store for 15 years and Van Scoy Jewelers for 7 years. She was a member of the Newcomers Club and an avid bridge player and played for seven different clubs. She was a former member of the former Boulevard E.C. Church, Allentown. Survivors: sons Ronald B. and his wife Diane of Allentown, Arthur W. of Schnecksville, daughter Diane L. Staniszewski of Leesport, four grandchildren, Sharon Transue and her husband Wayne, Connie Spitko and her companion Scott Duncan, Stacey Reeder and her husband Dave, Geoffrey Spitko and his wife Colleen, five great grandchildren and a sister Wilma J. Scully. She was predeceased by a grandson Kyle Staniszewski, brothers James Beatty and Michael Waters. Services: 11:00 AM, Thursday, Oct. 5 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St. Allentown.
