Irma R. Moeller peacefully passed from her earthly life on March 14, 2024, at the age of 94. The daughter of the late Louis Riedl Sr. and Mary Bersuder Riedl, Irma was born into a large and loving family and spent most of her life in the New Orleans area. The last of her nuclear family, she was predeceased by her siblings Louis Riedl Jr., Joseph Riedl, May Johnson, William Riedl, Alma Diggs, Edward Riedl Sr., Albert Riedl, Elsie Vamprine, Ernest Riedl Sr., and Edna Fournet. Irma is survived and sorely missed by Albert Moeller, her loving husband and soulmate of 67 years, and their children, Dr. Laurie Moeller, Bryan (Lori) Moeller, Allen (Melody) Moeller, and Robert (Danielle) Moeller. She was loved and will be missed by her grandchildren, Kelsy (Ryan) Laurent, Elise Moeller, Adam (Lauren) Moeller, Isabel Moeller, Andrew Moeller; great-granddaughter, Natalie Laurent; scores of nieces and nephews; and stepfamily which includes grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Irma had a strong "joie de vivre", with her foremost passion being her family. It was with this joy that she created a happy and welcoming home for her family and friends. She will be remembered for being as adept at keeping home and hosting festive family gatherings as she was at planning, coordinating, and executing family camping vacations for six (or more) from a Rambler station wagon and pop-up camper or tents. She was one who was in her element and could work culinary magic with nothing more than an ice chest, Coleman stove, and electric griddle at a mountain or lakeside campsite. Irma was a social and creative soul by nature, who expressed her creativeness and brought joy to others through a lifetime of music, piano, cooking, award-winning quilting, sewing, singing, and painting. To the very end, as her body became frail and her eyesight waned, it was still one of her greatest pleasures to play piano for herself and for the enjoyment of others at her Summerfield Senior Living community home. She was especially happy when having the opportunity to share the keyboard with her granddaughter, Isabel, or God-daughter, Candy Riedl-Lowe. Upon being diagnosed with breast cancer and having subsequent surgery, she decided that reaching her 90's was enough and chose the path of finding happiness in her remaining time rather than battling the disease. They say that it takes a village to raise a child, and the same can often be said as we approach the end of our earthly lives. The family would like to thank Irma's doctors, the Summerfield Senior Living (Slidell) staff and community, her sitters, St. Luke's outreach ministry, and Passages Hospice for the caring and support they gave Irma as she transitioned from this life. Family and friends are invited to attend services for Irma and her husband, Albert, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 910 Crossgates Blvd., Slidell, LA, on Friday, May 24, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral Mass immediately following. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans at a later date. In lieu of flowers or tree plantings, donations are requested for the
American Cancer Society or Hospice House of Slidell. Memories and condolences may be expressed at
