I knew Jake from hanging around the Sandbar at UNO. He was just a really cool guy who I would see and talk to. We exchanged emails (in the day before cell phones) and I kept in touch with him over the years. But that was sometime ago, and I wish I had continued to keep in touch with him some way.

The last time I spoke to him he was out of Harvard Law and working on a case involving a 2 foreign companies with a dispute in a completely different 3rd country. Very cool stuff!

Jake was good people and I was shocked to google him and learn about this. I have thought about him off and on over the years and was always wondering how he was doing.

He was a great guy and I'm sure a brightspot to many people. I'm sad that I didnt' get to hangout with him more. RIP Jake. I'm sure I'll see you in the next.

I didn't see Jake often since he was the grown child of my dear friend Darlene, yet every meeting was unforgettable. Such a captivating conversationalist, so intelligent, talented, and still so kind, helpful, and so approachable. Such a profound loss for all who ever met him, and all the people who still hadn't met him. The Seeger family is thinking of all Jake's friends and loved ones.

My family has added your family and friends to our prayers for consolation and strength . One thought keeps popping in my mind, we lost my Dad unexpectantly on November 6. He was also a man that could do it all. They would have that in common as perhaps , he would meet and welcome Jake to paradise on his heavenly birth date . While they are smiling and in GLORY, It's hard for all of us left behind though . I'm sorry.

My deepest condolence to the Palumbo family. I met Jake during our Bible Study classes at St. Ambrose Church. I used to wait for him to speak because he always had something intelligent and profound to say about the word of God. I so wanted to know him better. We'll never understand why God chooses to take his best people at such an early age because those who are left behind are the ones who have to live with his loss. But I'm convinced that Jake is walking hand in hand with God's only Son. Rest in peace, Jake. You will be missed.

Dear Freddie, Gus and family of Jake Palumbo. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this tragic time. I am so sorry for your loss. May you be able to accept the Peace of our Lord at this time.

Jake, I know you will be missed by many people. You touched the lives of many in a positve way. I ll never forget the time I had the privilege of coaching you on the Galatas Chargers football team. When I asked your name at the first practice, you responded in a deep voice, Jake. I thought I was hearing a younger Rocky Balboa. From that moment I I know I had a great player on the team.

Jake and I were essentially attached at the hip for ~7 years. We were each other's first love. He was hugely influential on my formative years and he has certainly left his mark on who I am today, for the better. I, like so many, was in awe of him - his whip-like intelligence, his inspiring charisma, his sincere compassion, his humble humanity, his unwavering honor... "Nature made him, and then broke the mold!" Jake wasn't an ordinary guy; he was a force of nature. He had a profound energy to him. You could feel him enter a room, even if he didn't say anything, and when he did, everyone listened attentively. He could have landed in the history books. He could have changed the world on a large scale. He was that kind of person. My heart goes out to his family, who welcomed me into their homes for years with hospitality and kindness. I can't imagine the suffering you feel at such a great loss. I regret that I cannot attend the funeral as am tied up in Montreal with a newborn son. I am there in spirit.

Jake was a very special, extremely bright, and unique guy. I will miss our spirited and sometimes lengthy conversations and debates, I will always fondly remember our shared love of wild rock and roll, and I will miss Jake's tremendous wit and rollicking humor. For some reason, "Nordic Track" comes to mind. Rest in peace, old friend. You will be missed.

I looked forward to each visit he made to Univ of South Alabama to see his brother, it was always memorable because he had that effect on all of us. Smartest guy I ever knew to this day, and I learned something new every time we spoke. He will be missed dearly.

He was an extraordinary soul for whom so many were touched by his brilliant Sicilian spirit, wit and wisdom. I wish I could take your sadness away even for a minute. I know I can't, but I hope that you feel the spirit of his guiding light shining upon you from up above now guiding the way. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and my heart aches for your loss. I first met Jake in summer camp when we were kids. A few years later, I found myself in the JROTC at Jesuit while Jake was the cadet commander.

Jake was a mentor to me before I ever understood what a mentor was. I'll always remember him as an intelligent, patient and witty gentleman--and we were only boys back then. I feel very fortunate having known him.

My deepest condolences to Jake's family and loved ones. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Jake was influential to me in so many ways. I don't think I'd have half the integrity or moral compass I grew to have as a man without the conversations we had as teenagers and young adults. I don't think anyone he ever had a conversation with ever forgot meeting him: he had that kind of charisma, the kind that makes you always want to be your best self. I will truly miss him.

Jake was a gift to so many and always brightened a conversation or the whole room. Even though he left the Sonnenschein firm years ago, his colleagues there still missed him. Jake made the world a better place, and we are sending our thoughts and prayers to Jake's family and friends everywhere.

Jake was an incredibly intelligent guy who had a profound influence on my life. Some of the best friends I have today are people I either met through Jake, or because of Jake, because he had a great eye for smart, talented, and creative people - much like himself. Jake taught me, through example, to be ambitious and to take risks, and that you should never be ashamed or apologetic for being a critical thinker. I will never forget you, Jake, or the amazing conversations we had in the donut shops at 2AM over pots of coffee. You have always been and will always be a unique soul, and I feel lucky to have known you. Thank you for everything.
