James T. Boulet

1919 - 2017

James T. Boulet, 97, born on July 3, 1919 in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away peacefully at his home in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 27, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Miriam Boulet; wife of 57 years, Grace Ripley Boulet; brother, William Boulet and sister in-law, Verna Mae Meyer Boulet. He is survived by his 5 children, Stephen Boulet (Sharon), Peter Boulet (Pam), Carol Occhipinti (late, Steve), Joan Lynch (Jeff) and David Boulet (Monique); 11 grandchildren, Marissa Boulet, Jennifer Boulet Scott (Woody), Rebecca Boulet Tamborella (David), Gina Occhipinti, Max Lynch, Grace Lynch, Charlotte Lynch, Kathleen Boulet, David B. Boulet, Zachary Boulet and Samuel Boulet; 3 great-grandchildren, Hugh Scott, Viviana Scott and Louie Tamborella. James lived a full and joyous life after graduating from Jesuit High in 1937. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939 and fought in World War II before being Honorably discharged in 1945. He met his love of his life Grace in New York City and brought her home to raise his family in New Orleans in 1946. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing, but most importantly his family. He had many interesting sayings like, "look here sonny boy" or "look here little girl", a true one of a kind gentlemen! James was a devout Catholic who never met a stranger and always made people feel welcome wherever he traveled. The Boulet family is thankful for the assistance given to dad in his final years by the Courtyard Manor staff, especially Ms. Bell, Barbara, Mary Mouton and JoAnn Broussard. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
