James Boulet Obituary

James T. Boulet, 97, born on July 3, 1919 in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away peacefully at his home in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 27, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Miriam Boulet; wife of 57 years, Grace Ripley Boulet; brother, William Boulet and sister in-law, Verna Mae Meyer Boulet. He is survived by his 5 children, Stephen Boulet (Sharon), Peter Boulet (Pam), Carol Occhipinti (late, Steve), Joan Lynch (Jeff) and David Boulet (Monique); 11 grandchildren, Marissa Boulet, Jennifer Boulet Scott (Woody), Rebecca Boulet Tamborella (David), Gina Occhipinti, Max Lynch, Grace Lynch, Charlotte Lynch, Kathleen Boulet, David B. Boulet, Zachary Boulet and Samuel Boulet; 3 great-grandchildren, Hugh Scott, Viviana Scott and Louie Tamborella. James lived a full and joyous life after graduating from Jesuit High in 1937. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939 and fought in World War II before being Honorably discharged in 1945. He met his love of his life Grace in New York City and brought her home to raise his family in New Orleans in 1946. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing, but most importantly his family. He had many interesting sayings like, "look here sonny boy" or "look here little girl", a true one of a kind gentlemen! James was a devout Catholic who never met a stranger and always made people feel welcome wherever he traveled. The Boulet family is thankful for the assistance given to dad in his final years by the Courtyard Manor staff, especially Ms. Bell, Barbara, Mary Mouton and JoAnn Broussard. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. It was the Blanco family's good fortune to have Jimmy Boulet and his gracious wife Grace become a part of our family when his son David married our daughter, Monique. Jimmy moved from Metairie to Lafayette after losing Grace and became a regular at Babineaux family holiday gatherings hosted by my mother Lucille at her home in New Iberia. We could always count on his fascinating stories to brighten the dinner table. We celebrated his birthdays at Mulatte's in Breaux Bridge where he happily commanded the dance floor. Jimmy was a kind man, easy to like and a wonderful grandfather to our mutual grandchildren: Kathleen, David, Zachary and Sam. He still considered himself "Mr. Lucky" even from his hospital bed. We will all miss Jimmy but know he is dancing his heavenly heart away with his Nbeautiful Grace! God bless you Jimmy.

Rest In Peace "Mr Lucky"( his words)! When I would visit at courtyard and say hey Mr boulet how are you. He would always say just call me Mr. Lucky because I'm the last of the old gang. It was a pleasure getting to know Mr. Boulet through Courtyard retirement facility, and the many trips to Mulates for dinner and dancing! What a treasure you all had in him. We really enjoyed hearing the stories he told especially the one of how he met his beautiful wife! He will forever remain in the hearts of me and my children! Much love and prayers to all of you! May God bring you peace and help you through this difficult time.

My condolences to the family. This is a troubling and difficult time, but there is someone that you can throw your anxieties on. At 1 Peter 5:6,7 God wants us to pray to him and let him know our distress because he cares for us.
