James Monroe Bridgewater Sr.

1945 - 2021

James Monroe Bridgewater, Sr., a retired mechanic for Southern Scrap and Westside Transit Lines, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:03 a.m. at University Hospital in New Orleans LA. He was a longtime resident of Algiers LA. Monroe was born on June 13, 1945 in Harvey LA to the late Freddie and Rachel Bridgewater. He was united in marriage to Mable Victor Bridgewater on November 8, 1975. He is the loving father of James and Craig Bridgewater, Jason Charles, Angele Banks, Nicole, Brian and Dana Bridgewater. Brother of Mildred Roussell, Deloris Darrensburg, Daisy Wilson, Bernadette Lain, Warren, Leonard and Harry Bridgewater and the late Larry, Lawrence and Lionel Bridgewater, Patricia Husky, Melva F. Boone and Francis Bridgewater. Monroe is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family, co-workers of Southern Scrap, Westside Transit, Ochsner Hospital, Omni Riverfront Hotel, Orleans Parish Communications District, The King Law Firm, Morris Bart, LLC, Ochsner Early Learning Center, St. Andrew The Apostle School, McCormack Baron Management, Liberty Hill Church and Franklin Street Church are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service on Friday, July 23, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Church located at 1441 Teche St., Algiers, LA. The visitation will begin at 8 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass. Father Peter Weiss, SSJ will celebrate the mass. Interment will be private. A repass will follow the service at Jugs Krewe of Nomtoc, 1905 Newton St., New Orleans LA. 70114. The Bridgewater family would like to thank the nurses at the Infusion Center at Ochsner Hospital Westbank for being such a great and loving support. We also thank everyone who prayed for our family.
