James Hughes Obituary

GALIVANTS FERRY | James Murr Hughes, 87, of the Dog Bluff Community, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at the Conway Nursing Center.

Born December 16, 1916 in Galivants Ferry, he was a son of the late John P. and Leacey Richardson Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a retired farmer and a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a son: Donald Hughes; a brother: J.P. Hughes; and two sisters: Margaret Hucks and Letha Brooks.

Surviving are his wife: Minnie Lee Hughes of Galivants Ferry; three sons: Billy Hughes and his wife Alma, Bo Hughes and his wife Mary Ann, and Glenny Hughes, all of Galivants Ferry; three daughters: Carolyn Baxley and her husband Gene, Marvidean Frye and her husband Thomas, all of Galivants Ferry, Bernice Bryant and her husband Bryan of Aynor; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and one sister: Frances Martin of Conway.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Rehobeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
