James Tromatore Obituary

James "Jimmy" Gerardo Tromatore passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the age of 46. He is survived by his mother Rowena Schober and husband Larry and his father James Don Tromatore of Destrehan, Louisiana. He is also survived by his brother Steven Tromatore and wife Noshoba of Houston, Texas. He was an uncle to Mariah, Kayla, Autumn and Josiah. He also leaves behind numerous family members and friends who loved and cared for him. He had a "nose" for a good pot of Italian red gravy, sweet smelling perfume and the best group of friends ever. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of truly knowing him. As Jimmy always said "I Love You More!" Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd., Destrehan, La., on Friday, April 1, 2016, from 9:30 am till 10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am followed by interment in the church mausoleum. Condolences may be expressed at www.hcalexanderfuneralhome.com.

Jimmy,
I'm so glad I got to know you. I recall your sense of adventure had very few limits. And the time you climbed so far up the Oak Tree in your backyard that your Mom couldn't watch and I wouldn't follow you. I also remember what you told me about the Red Sauce your Father was always making on the stove. And one day, how it changed ever so slightly with each little ingredient, whether it was the Italian sausage or the rendering of the sausage, and how 'when it was added' made a real difference.

Jimmy, I still use that advice today and I credit you for that advice shaping me in my cooking skills still to this day. You had a major impact on my life, even from the short time I got to know you from just hanging out. I'm sure you are making sure the sauce is just right up there already.

If I still know you well enough, you may pop in for a visit to check the sauce, or whatever I may be cooking. Like your family always said to me, you are always welcome to our table.

Thank you for being me friend Sir!

Rest well.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Jimmy, I didn't know you very well until the past few days. I have cried and laughed many times reading the stories and memories of people who knew you better than I did. From their remembrances I have realized I missed out on knowing you better. Thank you for being the person you were in life. Thank you to all who shared their memories of Jimmy, they made me want to be a better person, a better friend, a better aunt, a better wife and a better mother. RIP Jimmy.

I'll always remember when I returned to Destrehan, LA as a single mom of 5 young children how supportive you were. We ran into to each other by accident and even discussed if anything is truly by accident. Enjoyed the long talks we had about everything under the sun. I'll always cherish those memories of your great friendship.
