James Walker Obituary

WALKER James Ernest Walker, Jr. died on September 29, 2007 at the age of 81. Born in Sterling, IL, he was a resident of San Francisco in his youth. Jim served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of the Southwestern Institute of Art and a press photographer for the Shreveport Times. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker. For 57 years he was a resident of Baton Rouge and an employee of Capital City Press until 1962 when he was disabled in an automobile accident. Recently he has resided in Covington. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 62 years, Golda Foster Walker, a son, James Curtis Walker, and a daughter, Alicia Walker Breaux; grandchildren Dawn Walker Wright, Felicia Lynn Huson, Roland Ted Huson, IV, James C. Walker, Jr., Nicole Breaux Stein, Leonard Joseph Breaux, Jr. and nine great grandchildren. He is survived as well by cousins Lois Overman, Santa Clara, CA and Josephine Cooper, Kimberly, ID; beloved sisters-in-law Freddie Foster Kees, Brandon, MS and Jackie Robinson Foster, W. Monroe, numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in his honor at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in Covington, Saturday, October 6 at 3:00 PM.
