Jan Brenan Obituary

Jan Marie Brenan, 63, passed peacefully on February 21, 2022 in Folsom, La. She was born March 3, 1958, to Thomas E. Brenan III and Mary Ann Guidry Brenan in New Orleans, LA. Beloved wife of Allen Copping; loving sister to Gregory H. Brenan (Janine) and Cindy Babylon (Louis); devoted Aunt to Anastasia "Stacey" Wallace (Mark); Teresa "Tessie" Brenan; Gregory H. Brenan II (Darlene); Michelle Lovitt (Scott); Timothy R. Brenan (Jenna); Holly Braud and Kristy Lynn Saitta (Mike), as well as eight great nieces and nephews. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Jan's favorite place to be was together with her family and friends. She left her mark on this world and was a catalyst for good in countless ways. If you were lucky enough to know her, then you were lucky indeed! Strong, brilliant, adventurous, fearless, funny, and caring, Jan lit up every room she entered with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She lived life with vigor, passion, and most importantly a love for God, and others. She had an amazing gift of bringing people together for the betterment of all. She was a true New Orleanian who loved the music, dance, and festivals. A master scuba diver, she traveled to magnificent places to enjoy in the splendor and wonder of nature. Jan excelled in everything she did. She was an accomplished professional and entrepreneur with more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare and non-profit sectors. She was passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and invested herself in youth to help them learn and grow to make an impact in the world. Jan graduated in 1976 from Grace King High School in Metairie and was the Senior Class President. She graduated from LA Tech in Ruston, LA and went on to earn a Master of Science from Troy State University in Alabama, and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing Management from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas E. Brenan III; her mother Mary Ann Brenan; a brother, Thomas E. Brenan IV; and a nephew Thomas E. Brenan V. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to the Jan Brenan Memorial Scholarship Fund, Donate to Central Creativity Foundation. The family invites you to express your fond thoughts and condolences online at lakelawnmetairie.com.
