She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Cleon Gros, Emily Ann Poche and Carmel Loch. She leaves behind her four children, Kirt (Marsha), Robert (Johanna), Howat (Mary Kay), Michele Martina (Jeff) and her "adopted" son Carlos Green (Teri). Memére is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, Austin Raymond (Jennifer), Evan Raymond (Mandy), Alyse Richards (Micah), Noelle Raymond, Madeleine Raymond (fiancée, Troy Patterson), Logan Raymond, Grace Raymond, Jamie Townsend (Simon), Michael Raymond, Craig Raymond (Katie), Taylor Martina, and Meredith Falgoust (Brett). Memére was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Rose, Luke, Smith, Rye, Tessa, Colby, Max, Margo and Baby Falgoust. Memére is also survived by her siblings, Yolande, Gerald (Linda) and Louis, Jr. (Lucille). She is remembered with love by countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memére was born on November 6, 1930 in New Orleans. She was the third of seven children and grew up in Gentilly, where she attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Elementary School, Dominican High School and Dominican College. She was active in the CYO and high school sports as a member of the basketball and tumbling teams. It was during these CYO years that she met the love of her life, D.J. She was actively involved in numerous church, social organizations and clubs for many years including the Altar Society, NAIM, the Marions and Les Nouvelles. She was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Divine Mercy Catholic Church and regularly brought communion to the sick at local hospitals. Above all, her main focus in life was her Faith, her Family and her Friends. In 2002, Memére was honored by her St. Elizabeth Ann Seton/Divine Mercy Church family as its nominee for the Regina Matrum award, an award which recognizes a mother for her contributions to family life, community life and parochial life. She loved getting everyone together and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a recital, a ballgame or a wedding. Memére had a passion for all LSU sports and was a football season ticket holder for 65 years, attending games regularly, culminating with a wonderful national championship season. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Kenner, LA at 12:00 o'clock noon on June 21, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. I met Janet at the beginning of SEAS Ladies Altar ministry and newly widowed from DJ. Always baked for our BakeSales and we have good memories of her.
I´m out of town but my thoughts and prayers are with her and her lovely family.

I was very saddened by the news of your passing. Playing cards with you and the ladies of le Nouvelle is a memory I'll always cherish.
God bless you. My prayers are with your family who will greatly miss you.

Janet, you will be missed by so many. I am glad that we were friends. I met Janet when we both signed up for a golf clinic in the spring of 1976!!!! And we have kept the friendship going all of those years. Rest in Peace, Janet.
