Jaser Nicola Rafidi

Jaser Nicola Rafidi, entered into Eternal rest on Wednesday, August 19th at the young age of 88 years with family by his side. Beloved husband of Widad Izzat Rafidi for 59 years of marriage. He is the loving father of Nicholas Paul Rafidi, Mary Rafidi Smith, David Jaser Rafidi (Holly) and Catherine Rafidi Durr (Joseph). Grandfather of Kylie, David, Sarah, Michelle, Julia, Olivia, and Nicholas. Son of the late Nicola Rafidi and Zaheia Rafidi. Brother of the late Saadala Rafidi, Yasmine Rafidi, Basem Rafeedie and Said Rafidi. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Jaser Rafidi was born on January 20, 1927 in El Bireh, Palestine and immigrated to the United States in 1948. When arrived he put himself through college working odd jobs. He then became a geologist after graduating from LSU (Baton Rouge). He worked for Shell Oil Company, Brock Exploration and then opened his own company in 1980 - Rafidi Oil and Gas, Inc. His love for geology had him drilling oil wells to this day. Jaser N. Rafidi was a great man who raised his children to live by the example of Christ. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, provider for his family, and friends to many. He is remembered most for his dedication to his family and his sense of humor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:00AM. Visitation will begin on Monday evening from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and on Tuesday morning from 8:30AM until 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
