Jennifer Elise Petteway Badeaux obituary

Jennifer Badeaux Obituary

BADEAUX Jennifer Elise Petteway Badeaux, age 38, a Texan by birth who possessed the spirit of a true New Orleanian, finally found everlasting peace on October 6, 2010. After graduating from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Jennifer earned a degree in journalism from Texas A&M in 1994, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After moving to New Orleans in 1995, Jennifer immediately realized that she could NEVER live anywhere else. In the immortal words of Chris Rose, she loved that "we dance when there is no music, we drink at funerals. We talk too much and live too large, and frankly, we're suspicious of others who don't." To Jennifer, living in New Orleans was like being on vacation every single day. Jennifer enjoyed a successful career in the advertising industry and was the former president of the American Marketing Association, as well as the Advertising Club of New Orleans. In 2007, Jennifer left her job as account supervisor at Peter A. Mayer Advertising in order to pursue her lifelong dream of owning her own business, Bath Junkie of New Orleans, now located in Metairie. She loved helping her customers create their own customized bath products as well as hosting private parties for their daughters. A charter member of Muses, Jennifer loved Carnival season, Jazz Fest (and just about any festival for that matter), Saints games, karaoke, travel, making new friends, and dancing with little to no provocation. Her interests were too numerous to faithfully recount herein. Born on Halloween, Jennifer was a natural born costumer, who relished every chance to "dress up". Perhaps her favorite pastime was simply hanging out with her astonishingly large number of friends. Her laugh was singular and contagious. Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Diane Blount, and her husband Lee of Van Buren, AR; and her beloved cat, Elvis. She is survived by the love of her life, Steve Badeaux, and his daughters: Caitlin and Cory; her father, Michael Petteway, and his wife, Helen of Holiday Island, AR; her sister, Melissa Petteway Epler, and her husband Alan of Bentonville, AR; her uncle Donald of Dallas; her grandmother Bea of Fort Worth; 16 nieces and nephews, and her amazing cat Didi. A Celebration of Her Life will be held in New Orleans on November 1st, 2010 details TBA. Jennifer, like a falling star, so bright you shone, if only far too briefly, and the impact you made on Earth will last forever.

I met Jennifer last year in the Bath Junkie shop. Upon meeting I considered her a friend. I am from NOLA and visit often. On this visit - Nov. 11, 2010 - I asked about her and was shocked and saddened to hear the news. What a beautiful spirit - the world needs more of her. My condolances and love to her family. I would feel priviledged if I could help. God bless - I thank God I got to meet her. Maria Bornstein (Jefferson, LA)

Last night was utterly magical. She would have been so proud of her family and friends celebrating her life in that fashion! It will never be forgotten and neither will Jennifer. We lost one of the best when she left us.

I went to high school with Jennifer and I will never forget her laughter and smile. She knew how to light up the school hallways with her spirit and joy. She will be truly missed by the Class of 1989 and her fellow Class of 1990, and mostly by me. To the Badeaux family and Petteway family, you have my deepest sympathy. Although Jennifer may be gone, her spirit will love forever.
