Jo Ann Pierce Duncan

1937 - 2016

Jo Ann Pierce Duncan was born on 15 January 1937 to John Benedict Pierce, Sr. and Mary Penelton Pierce. She was the eighth of nine children. She was married to Wilfred Honora, Jr. in 1954. From this union, was born one daughter, Claudette Marie, who predeceased her. She worked as a nurse aid at Southern Baptist Hospital and later retired from sitting in private homes. She was married in 1983 to the late Samuel Duncan. She was a member of St. Monica's Parish and later Holy Ghost Parish for over forty years. She was a member of the Sodality of the B.V.M. and St. Theresa Little Flower Court No. 52, Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary for 24 years. She is survived by her grandchildren, Keycha R. Honora and Jari C. Honora; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Arvin Chambers; her great-grandchildren: Myecia, Mariyah, and Pvt. Maci Honora, USA, and Jason M. Evans; great-great-granddaughter Zoey; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church (St. Katharine Drexel Parish), 2015 Louisiana Avenue. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. The Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary ritual will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Interment Metairie Cemetery.
