Joan Lafaye Combel passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 78. Beloved wife of Paul Combel for 27 years. Mother of Robert "Freddy" Wirstrom and the late Wanda Desentz (Troy). Stepmother of Greg Combel (Christy) and Scott Combel (Laura) and the late Christopher Combel. Grandmother of Jessica Melancon (Jason), Scott Stonestreet, Casey Laiche (Blake), Peter Combel, Jenna Combel, Hunter Wirstrom, Bayleigh Wirstrom, Izzy Combel and Remy Combel. Great-grandmother of Hallie and Finn. Daughter of the late Clifford J. Lafaye and Georgie Madden Lafaye. Sister of the late Butch Lafaye and Georgie McGraw. Aunt of Leigh Ann McGraw, Katie Helluin, Clifford Lafaye and Joey Lafaye. Joan attended St. Joseph Academy. She enjoyed gardening, red wine and most of all, spending time with her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, starting at 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
