Joel "Billy" Alexander

Joel "Billy" Alexander entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 67. He was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Joel was a 1972 graduate of St. James High School. He was employed for several years as a welder with Avondale Shipyard. Later in life he worked as a skilled and talented carpenter taking on many jobs such as home renovations and designing wood cabinets. Joel's favorite pastime was gardening and spending time with his with his family. Beloved husband of Debra Pinkins-Alexander. Devoted father of Demel Alexander of Vacherie, LA, Micah (Latanya) Alexander of Los Angeles, CA, and Shanna Alexander of Dallas, TX. Loving grandfather of Daija, Dondre, Devin, Delanize, Milano, Mikel, and Milan. Son of the late Joe Jones and Norna Mae Growe Alexander. Grandson of the late Ames Growe, Sr. and Leona Growe. Brother of Roy Alexander of Los Angeles, CA, Larry (Carol) Alexander of Vacherie, LA, Gregory (Tracy) Alexander of North Carolina, Cantrell (Tracy) Simons of New Orleans, LA, Antoine Alexander of Luling, LA, Joycelyn (Bob) Lanier of Miami, FL, Trenna (Rodney) Pearson of Arizona, and the late Errol Gene Alexander. Nephew of Hazel Alvarez, Marie Williams, and Carolyn Johnson. Best friend of George Green, Leroy Gibson, and Fred Keller; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Rodney Pearson, officiating.
