John Joseph Kieran Jr.

John Joseph Kieran Jr. of Metairie, LA passed away July 23, 2024, three days after his 94th birthday. He was raised in New Orleans where he met and married the love of his life, Joan Claire Morel. They would have been married 64 years last October, but sadly she passed just before their anniversary, leaving him lost and grieving. John was also preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Kieran Sr. and Ernestine Mary Teoulet, both of New Orleans, sister, Rosemary Ray, son, John Joseph Kieran III, and grandson, John Joseph Kieran IV. He is survived by sons, Kenneth Michael Flynn (Brenda Barbot Flynn) and David Michael Kieran, and daughter, Kelley Claire Savoie (Fred Savoie), 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. John attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from S.J. Peters High School. He served 4 years in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He enjoyed all sports, especially football and basketball, shooting league pool, and throwing horseshoes with his sons and grandson. He was funny and dry-witted, quiet and well put together. He was a caring and respected husband and father who always provided for his family. John came to know Jesus as His Lord and Savior after 40 years of loving, persistent prayer by his wife and his church family at First Baptist Church Kenner. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. A funeral service to be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA.
