John Joseph Schluter Jr.

John Joseph Schluter Jr., of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on April 23, 2022, at the age of 83. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on July 8, 1938, to his loving parents, the late John Joseph Schluter Sr. and Lucille Anderson Schluter. John is the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Mildred Wetzel Schluter; cherished father of Sharon Marie Schluter (Catherine), Michelle Lucille Schluter-Ford (Richard), and John Joseph Schluter III (Jill); treasured grandfather of the late Macy O'Brien, John Joseph Schluter IV, Brody Taillac Schluter, and Torin Michael Schluter; proud great-grandfather of Daniel J. Bowman Jr. and Mary Jane Hudson; and caring brother of James F. Schluter, Jane Vicknair, and Regina Mevers. John proudly served in the United States Navy. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Loyola University and a master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He bravely served on the New Orleans Police Department for 30 years and retired with the rank of lieutenant. He was a court officer for the Supreme Court in New Orleans and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with Military Honors on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
