John Robert Williams Jr.

John Robert Williams Jr. passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. His story begins on April 5, 1948, in D'Lo, Mississippi, the only son of Geneva Banks and John Robert Williams, Sr. John later resided in New Orleans, LA. John Robert "Jake" Williams, Jr. attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated in 1968. He attended University of Southern Louisiana, Baton Rouge and subsequently became a Nurse. John transitioned and worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation where he retired in 2009. His hobbies included jazz, golf and watching Western movies. John had a bubbly and loving personality and was known for giving everyone a nickname. John is survived by four daughters Rita Ann Williams of Harvey, LA; LaTanya Williams-Gant (Herbert Gant) of Slidell, LA; Robin Williams of Richmond, CA and Vanzettina Williams of Kansas: three sons, John Robert Williams III (Angel Williams) of Garland, TX; Robert LaNere Williams (Asha Williams) of Lewisville, TX, and Anton Williams of Las Vegas, NV. He has 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Also surviving are four sisters Willie Jean Smith, Ernestine Easterling, Kathleen Paige and Janet Sue Banks. He was preceded in death by his mother Geneva Banks, father John Robert Williams, Sr.; sister, Barbara Hughes; grandsons Derek Williams and Brandon Duckworth. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, June 25, 2022, for 1:00 p.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126.
