Johnnie Beatrice Riley

1928 - 2022

Johnnie Beatrice "Johnnie Mae" Brumfield Riley entered the gates of Heaven on June 25, 2022, in her home. She was born on Feb 4, 1928, in Franklinton, Louisiana, to the union of Roosevelt H. Brumfield & Beatrice Pierce. Johnnie Mae was married to William Riley on June 16, 1951, at All Saints Church where she was a lifelong member. From this union, they were blessed with one son, George Anthony Riley. She was a devout Catholic and long time Parishioner of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Algiers, Louisiana. She was a Catechism teacher of the first graders at All Saints School. She was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxillary Court #36; the Altar Society; Legion of Mary Sodality; and All Saints Rosary Group. She was a longtime member of the Arthur Mundy Senior Center. Johnnie Mae worked for many years with her husband as joint owners Laundromat. She also worked as a hairdresser. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers; Alton, Shadrack, and Roosevelt ; step daughter, Beverly Kelly. She is survived by her son, George Anthony Riley, step daughters; Doris Robertson of Carson, CA, Karen Muckleroy of Gaithersburg, MD, one brother Oliver Brumfield, step grandchildren: Carla Harper, Kenneth, Wayne and Michael Kelly, Stephanie Moore and Christine Johnson, Nieces; Winifred 'Penny' Simmons and Catherine Simmons and a host of other family and friends. Ms. Johnnie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in peace! Funeral Services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche Street, Algiers, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Tuesday, 5 July, 2022. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. The service will be at 10:00 AM. The Interment will follow at McDonoghville Cemetery 520 Hancock Street, Gretna, LA 70053.
