Joseph "Joe" Lewis, Sr. passed on to eternal rest on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his home in New Orleans, La. surrounded by loving family members. Joe was born on March 21, 1929 to the union of Mary Thompson and Harry Lewis. Joe is survived by 7 children Alex Lewis, Sr. (Renee), Michael Lewis, Sr., Harriet Lewis-Hills (Gregory), Raymond Lewis, Ronald Lewis (Lisa), Leonard Lewis, and Gloria Lewis-Davis (Delwin, Sr.), 1 brother Ernest Smith, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Mary Thompson and Harry Lewis, wife Gloria Boudoin-Lewis, sister Edna Lewis-Moss, daughter Cynthia Lewis and son Joseph Lewis, Jr. Joe lived his entire life in New Orleans, La. Joe was an Army Vet and worked many years as a Long Shoreman. Joe enjoyed eating Soul food and gourmet meals. Joe was known for chewing his food about 100 times before swallowing it. Joe loved walking and working out. He believed in proper grooming, he had remarkable taste in clothing and he dressed to impress 7 days a week. Joe had many accomplishments in life but his greatest accomplishment was studying the Bible for many years and surrendering his life to Jehovah God.
