Joseph Louvier Obituary

Joseph C. Louvier, age 86, passed away in Covington, Louisiana, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 16 years, Gail Bel Louvier; his three sisters, Judy Swoop, Claire Guidry, and Shirley Ganucheau; and his parents, Anatole and Clementine Louvier. He is survived by his three children, Nicole St. Paul (Lain), Candice Marciante (Jerry), and Charles Louvier (Meghan); his grandchildren, Alexis St. Paul, Pierce St. Paul, Lizette St. Paul, Kaila Jacob (Scott), Cody Marciante, Lilly Louvier, Gail "Lainey" Louvier, and Porter Louvier; his great grandchildren, Sophia Mae Jacob and Scott Keith Jacob, III; his sister, Theresa Leger (Mitchell); his former wife, Sue Louvier; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was born in New Orleans on January 10, 1938. In 1955, he graduated from St. Aloysius High School. After graduation, he proudly enlisted with the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1956 until 1959. After his time with the Navy, Joseph enrolled with Tulane University, and in 1963 graduated with his bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1970, he opened his own business, Jay Louvier Construction and Real Estate, which flourished for many decades. In 1982, he served as president of the New Orleans Homebuilder's Association. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass in Metairie Cemetery. The photo that you posted here is the way I remember Jay Louvier. He served so well as one of the best presidents of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans. He was a joy to serve with and his kindness and friendship were always appreciated.
