Joshua Hawley Obituary

Joshua Lee Hawley age 42, left us quite suddenly on December 14, 2021, doing what he loved: flying. He was a helicopter pilot, Sergeant in the US Marine Corps, Paramedic, Eagle Scout, Drone Pilot, boat and airplane mechanic, Electrical instrumentation Technician, Assistant Coroner, a master of dad jokes, and most of all- a loving husband and father of 3 amazing boys. Many times, he juggled/held 4 or 5 of these jobs at the same time! From the batmobile toy he took apart 100 times as a kid to the C-130 aircrafts he repaired, if it moved, Josh could fix it. He loved learning new things and his interests could vary from fly fishing to smoked meats to being an expert lock picker. Josh had an appreciation for IPA's and ale's and although he loved his "Ham" radio and bird watching, nothing was more important to Josh than his family and friends. He never said no when asked for help and he gave all he could with both hands to those in need. The impact of his death will forever be felt by his loving wife of 8 years, Carly Weeks Hawley, and his 3 sons: Wyatt (7), Daniel (4), and James (3). He is preceded in death by his mother, Katy Maxwell. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Marvin and Raye Ann Hawley; his stepfather, Kenny Maxwell; his sister, Jes (Brad) Harrison; his brother David (Erin) Hawley; his half-sister Heather Kipp; his step-siblings, Justin (Kel) Hondroulis, Kendon (Mariah) Maxwell, Katie Hondroulis, Ryan Hondroulis, Randi Cupit, and by a large and loving extended family. Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 5pm until 9pm and will resume on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 10am until services at 11am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to a favorite organization, and written stories about Josh or his bad dad jokes are welcome.

I met Josh at KBTR airport at Signature flight support. We were both training with the same instructors. Our mutual love for aviation fueled our friendship. Whenever Josh would hear me on the radio flying back in from a trip or leaving out he would always contact me. The last time we spoke was some weeks back as I was leaving the regional airport in Gonzales, he called me and said," hey Calvin is that u? Go to frequency 123.45." I did and we talked to each other for a while catching up so to speak. He loved to talk and so did I. I´m gonna miss him monitoring the aviation radio and calling me inadvertently and making my day chatting about life and flying. What I want his family to know though is that Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal and that God is able to fix your heart and comfort u during this time of pain. Remember this nothing is ever loss as long as you know where it is. RIP my friend, I´ll see you again in the clouds someday.

God bless and Ispeaklife

Josh,

When I got the call, I did not believe it, I was in denial that it was you.

For the time I knew you, I could tell all you wanted to do was help people. You were a fantastic flight instructor and one of the best helicopter pilots I knew. After our first flight together I bragged to everyone how good of a rotor pilot you are. You are a great father, from talking with you I know you loved your family more than anything else in the world. I am deeply saddend by this, the world lost a wonderful person and heaven gained beautiful angel.

Rip my friend, until we meet again. I pray you have blue skies and tail winds.

To the family, if I can do anything to help please let me know, no matter what time it may be. (985) 788-1229

Josh took the picture below, I think we were both equally excited we landed in the middle of the Mississippi River on a sand bar and the water was actually crystal clear. Neither of us could believe it. The picture was taken about 2 months ago.

Josh, I raise a beer for you brother. I have fond memories of you back at VMGR-234 and going out on your boat. Dude, you will be missed and we will remember you all the Marines. Todd

I know there are no words that can heal the broken hearts by your lost but I want you to know that Josh was one of the nicest persons I ever met at the airport during our training. He would always greet me and others with a big smile and a hello. Josh treated every one the same regardless of your background. He will be missed but never forgotten. God has another angel. May God bless the family.
