Joyce Theresa Brumfield

Joyce Theresa Ragusa Brumfield, lovingly referred to as "Mawmaw" to all who knew her, was born in New Orleans on January 25 1938 and ascended into heaven on October 25, 2018. She was surrounded by love and without pain in her final days. She resided in the New Orleans area for her entire 80 years of life. Wife of Leon George Brumfield for 58 years, she is survived her beloved children Daniel, Terri, Kai, Kelly, Nancy, Christopher, and Maureen; her grandchildren Casey, Anthony, Dominique, Brett, Amanda, Fabian, Lauren, Jacob, Ashton, Shelby, Sarah, Matthew, Jesse, Jacob & Michael; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Sofia, Kai, Junior, Maxwell, Desi, Luna, Anthony & Dominic; as well as her siblings Doris, Ralph, Sam, and Lorie; and lastly every person who had the opportunity to meet her. She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Edna Ragusa, and great-grandchildren Zachary and Jude. In her youth Joyce was an active athlete, playing volleyball, softball, tennis, and bowling. She worked as a secretary for Singreen Insurance Agency from 1962-1975 as well as Marian's Boutique as a sales associate from 1980-1995. Her greatest passion in life was to be surrounded by her family and friends and those she loved. Her family would like to extend their thanks to the many nurses, physicians and hospital staff at Ochsner Hospital who took care of her and ensured her comfort through her final moments. Her service will be held on Tuesday the 30th of October at the Garden of Memories funeral home from 10am-12pm. A Catholic Mass will follow.
