Judith Shelton Obituary

SHELTON Judith A. Gic Shelton, RN, CRNA, JD, FCLM New Orleans attorney, passed away on December 31, 2011 at age 64. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York who ended up falling in love with and calling New Orleans home. Survived by her husband, Dr. Philip A. Shelton. A graduate of New York's Beth Israel School of Nursing (RN) and New York University-Bellevue Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA), Bachelor of Science at Our Lady of Holy Cross College and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, both in New Orleans. Judith was a retired member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, a former instructor of nurse anesthesia at Bellevue program, a reviewer for R.N. Magazine and a contributing author to their legal advice column. Judith was a Sustaining Member of the Association of the Trial Lawyers of America and a member of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers. She has served as a member of the joint Louisiana State Bar Association-Louisiana State Medical Society Interprofessional Committee and the Louisiana State Bar Association Committee on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. She was the Editor-in-Chief of Legal Medicine Q&A. She is a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine and was a frequent lecturer to legal and health care provider groups and has contributed several chapters to various legal medicine publications, including the American College Legal Medicine Publication. Judith will be deeply missed by her family, her colleagues and her friends. She will be laid to rest at the Menorah Gardens in Southwest Ranches, Florida. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her name to the American College of Legal Medicine. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home of Metairie.
