My deepest condolences at this time. Dana and Justin were Colby College classmates of mine. May Justin´s light and contributions to our world continue to be a source of inspiration. I am grateful to plant this tree in his memory.

My little ultimately became a double major in environmental science and public health with a minor in public policy analysis. But they honestly did this all passively while being a "fangirl" of Justin's. Touro introduced us to him, his studies, his institute. But I honestly don't know if he knows what he did; that he changed their life. And not just for the better, but for the amazing. They got out of the deep south and south. They are in New England and considering leaving the country after graduation. Going where global warming isn't disputed. Where science is respected and honored. Where their personhood is believed and safe (lady parts unite). Juston really cracked the door that opened their eyes. He created a safe space to think, explore, and ultimately find themselves. Environmental justice may sound simple but it can be a universe of thought when it opens a door. The internship didn't happen this summer but I don't care because I see the massive growth. They don't yet so I understand. You did your best and that was always enough. Actually, it was usually more because you were an impressive person. I appreciate all that you did. It was noticed.
Justin... If practical strangers noticed, you had to be an amazing person. But amazing people keep strangers remembering. I'll tear a cloth for you. May his memory be for a blessing.

Justin was a wonderful colleague with an infectious smile. I was proud to serve alongside him while we stood for progressive values on the campaign trail in 2008. The PA for Change team is one big family and he will be missed dearly.
