Mark, your mom fought the good fight and ran the race. She finished strong. You and Marcy have run part of the race with her and shall be blessed for the love, care, and endurance that you displayed while caring for your mom. Paul and family, your mother was our mother, your loss is our loss. For years our families shared so much pain, sorrow, and JOY. Hurricane Katrina separate us in distance, but the Love we built over the years kept us together. On behalf of the Late Willie Hawkins, his wife and children wants you to know we love your family with an everlasting love. Your mother and grandmother will live as long as you let her life be reflected thru your life. She was a beautiful woman inside and outside, she had such a sweet spirit about herself. Aunt Kat and I enjoyed chatting when she was living in the Houston area. I was one of those old enough to remember the same good things about New Orleans. She now joins the ranks of the dearly departed. Tell them hello for me. May they all rest in peace.

I just want to say goodbye to you and godpseed on your journey home to reunite with all those who have departed before you. I hope that you will always look down on me kindly with the same love, humor, compassion, heart and generosity you showed me in life. Your dear mother blessed my late son Russell A. Obee, Jr. with many priceless gifts and his late grandmother Elizabeth “Birdie” Anderson Obee shared with me her numerous telephone conversations with Mrs. Katherine. They enjoyed chatting about their children and grandchildren.
