My wife and I just found out about Dr. McMahan's passing. We were shocked and very sadened by the news. Although we knew she was ill for some time we were always hopefull that she was doing well. She was a wonderful Doctor but more than that she was a such a gracious and warm human being. My family including my two boys who were her patients will forever keep her in our hearts and prayers!

I stumbled upon this and am so sorry I did not know sooner. Tina was wonderful to my children and we were with her from the beginning. She was warm and loving and we were truly blessed to have known her. Her sister was battling cancer at the same time as my mom, and we often cried and grieved together. I know she is loving us from Heaven. Donna, Tommy, Kevin, Jeff and Scott

It is with great sadness that I submit this entry. Dr. McMahan will be forever loved and deeply missed. My prayers to her family and friends, especially the wonderful people at Carousel Pediatrics.

How can we express our sadness? We were privileged to know Tina for ten years, first as our children's pediatrician, and then as my friend. She saw us through some of the most frightening days of our lives when David had NEC. I am convinced that without Dr. Tina's astute observations and quick referral to NICU, we would not have had the positive outcome that we did.

Tina, I will remember your wisdom, your calm voice reassuring me through so many little crises, and most of all your sense of humor. I will remember Barkus, and being "directionally challenged." As I take a wrong turn in some unfamiliar city, I will try to notice the cute little dog that I would have missed if I had not lost my way.

We will all miss you.

I will never forget the evening I got the call. Tina had died. I was out on a boat in Lake Pontchartrain. I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness and loss. I wasn't ready to say goodbye. Then, as the sun began to set, the sky came alive with hues of orange and pink. A sense of peace settled over me as I watched the horizon. It was one of the most colorful, glorious, and perfect sunsets I've ever seen. I immediately knew that Tina was up there with God, painting the sky! She will live forever in my heart.

Dr. McMahan was my son Cole's Pediatrician when he was born in 1997. I really was impressed by her caring and gentle ways with children. It was obvious she loved them very much. We heard shortly afterward that Dr. McMahan was ill with Cancer but I always thought she was going to get better. I was so sorry to hear about her death. My condolences go out to her family and her coworkers at Caroussel Pediatrics. She will be greatly missed.

My family and I were deeply saddened to hear of Dr. McMahan's passing. My children, now ages 25, 22 and 20, were cared for by Dr. Tina. No matter what your situation was when you went into the office you always left with a smile on your face because that's how she presented herself. She was kind and gentle and always made you feel like you were her only patient that day. Our condolences to her family and friends. Pam, David, Tara, David, Jr. and Tiffany Lubrano

Tina and I were childhood friends. We both lived on Madrid Street and attended St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School. Unfortunately, our childhood homes were destroyed in Katrina, but the memories will stay in my heart forever. I had the priviledge of knowing her entire family - mom , dad, and her sister Teresa. There were many games of kick-the-can played on that street and we could all do a mean jump rope, one of our favorite afterschool activities. Tina was a wonderful friend and even though I moved away when I was 12, I had the opportunity to speak to her in later years. It didn't surprise me one bit that she became a pediatrician. She always had a soft heart for the little children on our street. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tina's dad and Teresa's daughter and to all of Tina's friends. I am glad I had the opportunity to know Tina....she was a great friend.

Dr. Tina McMahan was my close friend as well as our pediatrician. I have learned so much through our incredible friendship and will keep her spirit alive with me everyday. Through her example, she taught me not to "sweat the small stuff" and to try to have a positive attitude even when I am feeling negative or overwhelmed. She also helped me to become a better mother to my three children. At times, I would have been totally lost without her endless parenting advice as well as the numerous house calls she would make whenever we needed her.
I can honestly say that I have never in my life admired and respected anyone as much as I did Tina. She would not allow her illness to define her life and even though she suffered greatly, she always found the energy and time to devote to our friendship and to my family.
She was and will continue to be a positive inspiration and a source of comfort in my life. I will forever cherish her memory and feel truly blessed to have been her friend.
With sympathy to her loved ones,

What a pleasure it was for me to find such a doctor who was not only a great doctor but also very kind and caring. My three sons, Shawn (24), Chris (22) and Ryan (18) were all treated by Dr. Tina. Whenever she walked into the room to check my children I felt so at ease and knew everything would be ok. She was truely an angel. Thanks Dr. Tina for everything. We will always remember you.

Our Daughters were 12, 6, and newborn when we were referred to Carousel Pediatrics, and Dr McMahan became their Primary Care Physician. They are now 29, 23, and 17 and all three were very sad to hear of Dr. McMahan's passing. Our youngest is still a patient at Carousel and we would ask at every visit how Dr McMahan was doing, and to please pass on our best wishes. Even though Alex was quite young when Dr McMahan became sick, she still remembers her very well. Our sympathies to her family. She will be missed

Tina was our friend and neighbor on Dove Street. She always had time to chat while our dogs visited through the fence. Every day to Tina was a gift. She loved walking Sassy through the neighborhood and knew more people there than I ever will. The kids would run out to the lane shouting for Dr. Tina and Sassy. It is a blessing to have known someone like Tina.

I believe all who knew Dr.McMahan loved her. She was a great doctor. But more important she was a warm, kind, and loving person. The last time I had the privilege of seeing her in the office I got to tell her I was expecting my 4th child. In turn, she told me her cancer was back. I regret that she never had the joy of seeing my baby girl's smiling face. But I'm certain Dr. McMahan is smiling down on all of us now. She was an angel here on earth. Now she is truly an angel in heaven.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones. We will all miss you.

Dr. McMahan's smile and kindness will be long remembered by our family. We visited Carousel Pediatrics a lot over the past 15 years thanks to ear infections, viruses, etc. When our daughter was in preschool and somehow got a pebble stuck in her ear, it was Dr. McMahan who got it out. I still remember that day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. McMahan's family and the staff of Carousel Pediatrics.

My deepest sympathy to the McMahan Family. Dr. McMahan was my son's (Scott) doctor sicce he was a toddler. She was the only person that he would see willingly and we loved the fact that she took great time at every visit to ensure he had the best care. She was always a great comfort. She made Scott's constant ear infections her personal crusade, which she naturally won. Even at nearly 14 years old, Scott considers Dr. McMahan his doctor. She will be deeply missed by our family.

Our deepest sympathy goes out for the McMahan family as well as the Carousel Pediatric family. Dr. McMahan was a gentle, sweet and caring person. She gave her undivided attention to each child's visit and recognized them by name outside the office. Amazing for the amount of children that demanded her care. The children loved her calmness and our family will miss her.
