Larry Schnadelbach Obituary

Larry James Schnadelbach died Monday, February 6, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born in New Orleans, Feb. 1, 1954, to Carl Robert and Beverly Ann (Leitz) Schnadelbach. He is survived by his wife, Sally D. Halverson Schnadelbach, nephews Richard Julius, Jr., (Brooke), Randall James, and Robert Joseph; niece Robyn Judith Schnadelbach Bruno, (Joseph), and their children Anthony, Scarlett and Violet. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Rev. Thomas R. Schnadelbach and Richard J. Schnadelbach, Sr., and sister-in-law Jill Fein Schnadelbach. Larry graduated from Jesuit High School in 1972, attended UNO and graduated from Loyola U. with a Bachelor of Communications in 1976 and a Master of Communications in 1994. He began work as a free-lance photographer in high school; after college, worked as a filmmaker, editor & photographer for Shell Oil Co. and McDermott International. He retired from Entergy Corp., after 32 years as Manager of Creative Services and Director of Executive Communications. Larry was well known for producing the annual Entergy Awards event, which recognized outstanding employee contributions throughout the company. Larry loved running and participated in numerous local races. One favorite training course was the track in Audubon Park; later, it was the lakefront in Mandeville where they moved after Katrina. Other retirement hobbies included gardening, stained and fused glass making, home renovation, outdoor holiday decorations, and an occasional baseball game. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Audubon Park Conservancy, c/o Audubon Nature Institute, 6500 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70118, or your local Salvation Army.

Larry was a true friend throughout my years at Entergy and beyond. A professional who was that rare combination of knowledgeable, demanding, understanding, and - toward me, anyway - patient. We remained friends until his passing, now some 15 years after my moving on from Entergy. I will miss him dearly. Deepest condolences to Sally and his loved ones.

I had the great pleasure of working for some years with Larry while he was at McDermott Intl. He was an excellent film editor and camera man, and a 1st class guy. Rest in the eternal arms of God my friend.
