As a graduate of '68 and a member of the band, Mr. Lawrence Winchester (Trevor) was a mentor to me and as an adult he became a good friend. Lawrence and I were classmates at St. Augustine's. One of my favorite memories of that time was accompanying Lawrence on the piano when he played Leroy Anderson's Trumpeter's Lullaby on his trumpet. He was a truly talented musician, but what I remember, even more, was the reality that he was, indeed, a gentleman and genuinely nice person!

WINCHESTER FOR TWO SEMESTER'S AT DELGADO IN A DRAFTING COURSE IN 1990 &1991 HE WAS INSPIRING TO HEAR HIM SPEAK. NEVER NEGATIVE ABOUT ANYTHING ALWAY'S IN GOOD HUMOR, HE WAS THE FIRST MAN THAT I HEARD SAY" AN IDLE MIND IS THE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND", ALSO THE TERM "WOOD SHEDDING" WHICH I"M SURE YOU ALL KNOW MEANT TO PRACTICE OUT BACK IN A WOOD SHED. BECAUSE BACK IN THE DAY,AS HE WOULD PUT IT, WE NEVER HAD GARAGE'S TO PLAY IN. I extend my sincerest condolences to the entire Winchester family. I too consider Mr. Winchester as one of the greatest and most influential persons to have touched my soul. I had the extreme pleasure of accompanying him to Chicago a few years ago and considered that trip as one of my most memorable vacations. It is with a heavy heart that James, Jennifer, and, I send our most heart felt condolences to all of you. Some people walk into you life and stay with you forever. Both Lawrence and Lois have most certainly done that with our family. Having Lawrence teach James, Graphic Engineering at Delgado and Lois teach Jennifer piano from the age of 8 to the age of 20. I myself studied piano with her as well. They both shared every big occassion of Jennifer's life. Though we lost so many things due to Hurricane Katrina, we are blessed to have a picture of Lois and Lawrence with Jennifer between them at her sweet Sixteen Formal Dinner party. I had the pleasure of sitting across from Lois and sitting next to Lawrence and smile every time I remember the story he told at the party. May God bestow the blessing of healing on your hearts.

It saddened my heart to hear of Mr. Winchester's passing. I still remember my days taking piano lessons with Mrs. Winchester in their home in Acad. Park. It was always a good place to be with such a loving and talented family. One thing I do know is how Mr.Winchester loved St. Aug. That was a part of him. He was a great educator and musician. He will be truly missed. Todd, Eric, Yvette, Susan, Lawrence you are in my prayers. May God comfort you during this time.

To the family, this is a time of sorrow and rejoicing. Sorrow in that the physical presents of this great man is no longer with us on earth. Rejoicing because he is most defiantly in a better place celebrating his home going with God the almighty Farther.
Mentor and leader are often terms over used by our society. Having benefited from Mr. Win in my formative years at St. Aug. has profited me financially; morally and philosophically as I have practice the ideals of Mr. Win. He created the foundation for me and hundreds of my brother Alumni.
Today is a day of reflection and rejoicing and thanking God that we have been immensely Blessed for know Lawrence T. “Mr. Win” Winchester. Our Brother, Our Leander Our Mentor, Our Hero!
