Linda Thomas Obituary

Linda Bostick Thomas, 74, passed away on June 24, 2024, in her Gretna home after a lengthy battle with cancer, her final weeks were filled with visiting loved ones, family, and friends. Linda was born to the late James W. Bostick Jr. and Marie Delcamo Bostick on September 15, 1949, in Waggaman, LA. She was the first of three children followed by her brothers James.Bill" W. Bostick lll and Victor Bostick. Linda attended West Jefferson High School and was part of the graduating class of 1g67 She obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from Our Lady of Holy Cross College. Linda worked as a counselor for Catholic Charities at Hope Haven-Madonna Manor. She retired as a counselor and juvenile probation officer at Jefferson Parish Juvenile Services. Linda met her husband, Ernest Thomas, at the Gretna Courthouse while she was with the Jefferson Parish D.A.'s office, and he was a juvenile probation officer. They would marry in 2012, though they were partners for much longer. Linda was a member of the Krewe of Iris and attended all her husband's Bacchus events, as well, she loved photography and her family. Naturally, she became the family documentarian. She filled photo albums with special moments in time of flash-blinded family and friends, and her family and friends could not be happier that she did. She is survived by her husband Ernest Thomas, brothers James W, (Lisa) Bostick lll and Victor Bostick, brothers-in-law Gerard (Mary) Thomas and Richard Thomas, sisters-in-law Dorothy (George) Watson and Kay (Robbie McDowell) Wattigney. Though she never had children of her own, Linda considered her nieces and nephews as her own and took immense joy in being a godmother and aunt to Jon (Maria Catindig) Bostick and Robert (Kolby Lirette) Bostick, and an aunt to Ashley (Michael) Phu, Kathryn (Brett Walsh) Bostick, Shane (Lisa) Thomas, Leslie (Eric) Blanchard, Michael (Breanna) Watson, Kelly (Angela) Wattigney, Austin Burmaster, and Kimberly (Chris) Salsman, She was a great aunt to Ryan and Alex Thomas, Alyssa and lsabella Phu, Emilia Walsh, Griffin and Leah Blanchard, Sawyer and Marlowe Watson, Jules, Cohen, and Camden Salsman, and Sadie Bostick. She also dearly loved a furrier sort of child: a cat named Tampa that preceded her in death. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, beginning at 10am at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, located at 3827 Canal Street. New Orleans, LA. 70119. A Catholic Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 12pm. To view and sign the family guest book, please log on to www.schoenfh.com

I am sad to hear of Linda's passing. We worked together at Juvenile Services for many years. She was a kind, funny , thoughtful lady. I will never forget the time she drove to my apartment in Kenner, after work and a long evening at the hairdresser, to talk with me and be encouraging. Linda was truly a trusted friend. I will never forget her. And Ernie, my prayers are with you.

Ernie and family,
I am so sorry to read that Linda has passed away. I offer you my deepest condolences. Linda and I worked together as probation officers. I haven't spoken to Linda since she called me back in 2012 to tell me she got married. She was one of a kind and if you met her, you didn't forget her. She gave me a lot of laughs. I will always remember our trip to Baton Rouge for the governor's conference. We had a lot of fun. She loved her pinot noir wine :-D You guys came to my wedding in 2007 but not sure if you remember me. It's been a while. Today I was thinking about her for some reason and Googled her name. I was shocked to see her obituary. I'm sorry we didn't keep in touch. May you find peace and comfort in your memories of her. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. So long, my old friend. May we meet again on the other side of this life Julie Cuber Breaux

My condolences to you, Ernie. Linda eventually made an honest man out of you over the years. I am sure she will be missed by many others as well.

So, so sorry but so glad you no longer in pain. Fly free, Linda. We'll watch over ET and try to get him up to our mountains to rest, hike, eat, whatever. Just sent him that beautifull photo you took of Looking Glass Falls, one of you at Grove Park Inn, and you all at Triple Falls in Dupont State Forest. You and Ernest are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Bill and Roi Black Mountain, NC
