Ella Lynn Crutchfield

Heaven has gained a new angel in their heavenly choir. Ella Lynn Thompson Crutchfield departed to eternal rest on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the age of 89 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 2, 1932 in Folsom, LA to James Arthur Thompson and Martha Ella Willie Thompson. Lynn is survived by her children, Deborah Evans (John), Dianne Easterly, Janet Palmer and John Crutchfield, Jr. (Yvette); 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and long time friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, John Edward "Eddie" Crutchfield, Sr. who passed away in March 2005; and her siblings, James H. Thompson, Delos A. Thompson, Sr., Donice E. Thompson, Sr. and Elma Ruth Thompson. Lynn is a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1950. She was the 1950 Homecoming Queen, Head Cheerleader, and voted "Most popular & most friendly." She was the babysitter for Coach Gallagher's kids. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University. Lynn was born, raised, retired and passed in Folsom, LA. She was also a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Lynn & Eddie traveled extensively with his work at Ethyl Cooperation where he was Head of Central Systems & Data Processing. Together they built Data Security & Storage and turned it into multimillion dollar business, working side by side for over 20 years. Once they sold the business they retired to the original Thompson Folsom Homestead which was built in 1850. Lynn was a full time homemaker. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Baton Rouge for many years before retiring. After moving to Folsom she became a member of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church. Known for the love of her family, she never met a stranger and made friends everywhere. She is well-known for her cooking. Those who entered her home were made to feel special whether it was with a big bowl of banana pudding or a slice of her famous sour crème pound cake or chicken and dumplings. She was the Quintessential Southern Lady -a true lady, hospitable & graceful. She had a love for music, was a self taught pianist, and sang numerous years with the church choir and at family gatherings. The family wishes to thank St. Tammany Parish Hospice for their compassionate care, especially Jennifer Bobeck, the Music Therapist. The family greatly appreciates the many friends and family members who came to offer support in her final days.
