Louis Howard

1928 - 2016

Louis Howard, born February 14, 1928 was summoned for his eternal blessing on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 8:15AM. He was 88. Son of the late Luther Howard, Sr. and Loraine Dixon Howard Cobb. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Rose ""Maolia"" Mae Mitchell Howard, to whom he was married for 56 years. He was the unconditional loving father of Leslie Howard and Linda A. Howard-Curtis. Also, survived in love and admiration by his grandsons, Gerard L. Howard and Ki-Jana ""KJ"" Curtis; paternal siblings Elnora Howard Reed and Marylou Howard Hamilton; in-laws, Mildred Robinson of Florida; Ida Mae ""Leola"" Myles, Joseph Mitchell of New York and Jonell Mitchell of Houma, LA; and son-in-law Aubrey J. Curtis. Also, survived by an extensive number of family members, friends and acquaintances. He was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Howard, Jr. and paternal sibling Milton Howard. Mr. Howard was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Early in his career he was employed at Crescent Typewriter Exchange Company and D. H. Holmes Department Store. A retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, he faithfully discharged his duties as a Letter Carrier for 39 years at the Broodmoor and Carrollton stations. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 124. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a celebration of Legacy and Love on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 11 a.m. at Professional Funeral Services, Inc. 1449 N. Claiborne Avenue New Orleans, LA 70116 with Dr. Kenneth G. Thibodeaux officiating. Visitation will be held from 10AM – 11AM. Interment at Lake Lawn Cemetery.
