Louis Martin Murphy Jr.

Louis Martin Murphy Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on October 12th, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Morris Murphy, and his two children, Louis Martin Murphy III and Colleen Morris Murphy. Louis was a loving husband and devoted father who cherished spending time with his family. Almost every summer, Louis would take his family to SeaChase in Orange Beach, AL for a family beach trip. Louis was the son of Helen Hudson Murphy and the late Louis Martin Murphy, Sr. He is survived by his three brothers Howard Murphy (Beverly), Steve Murphy (Timmie), Michael Murphy, and his sister Lynne Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Louis was a New Orleans native; he grew up in Algiers, attended De La Salle High School, and graduated from Loyola University. Louis was a CPA for over thirty years with a reputation of being an extremely knowledgeable tax accountant who cared personally for his clients. Louis was also active in his community. He was an Eagle Scout and participated with his son's Lakeview Boy Scout Troop 23. Despite suffering a stroke in 2014, Louis still maintained a positive attitude with a sense of humor. He enjoyed his days watching golf and visiting with everyone who came to spend time with him. Louis will be remembered as a kind and wonderful family man. The family would like to give special thanks to Gloria Thomas for her help, care, and affection for the past seven years, also thanks to Andrea Berry, Jannelle Jamison, and Terez Leonard- Nicholas for their care of Mr. Louis. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Louis' memory to either the Boy Scouts of America or St. Michael Special School, 1522 Chippewa St. New Orleans, LA 70130. On Friday, October 22nd, 2021 there will be a visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A mass celebrating Louis' life will begin at 11:00 am in the J.
