SIMON MAE JANE STERN SIMON Mae Jane Stern Simon of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lafayette, Louisiana died at the age of 88 on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Mae Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Sol Baer Stern, Sr. and Celeste Davidson Stern. Mae Jane was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Julius Joseph Simon to whom she was married to for 64 years. Mae Jane is survived by her children, daughter, Leslie Louise Simon of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lafayette, Louisiana and her son, Jeffrey Jay Simon and his wife Marilyn Nance of Chicago, Illinois. Mae Jane is also survived by her brother-in-law, Maurice Simon, Jr. and his wife Jane Collins Simon of New Orleans, Louisiana and Fair Hope, Alabama; and by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mae Jane graduated from McMain High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. During WWII, Mae Jane diligently served her country as a secretary to the Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy assigned to New Orleans. Mae Jane was a wonderful home maker and volunteered for many organizations including Lighthouse for the Blind and the Parent Teacher Organization, which she proudly served as President. Mae Jane was a kind and generous woman to everyone and especially to strangers. She loved to entertain and always brought a smile to everyone she touched. She will be greatly missed.
