I´m sorry to see this so late. Dr. Magaw was a brilliant professor. He fostered in me a love of literature and the value of the right words to express the right ideas. Brilliant, witty, a scholar and a gentleman.

Dr. Magaw was an incredible human being. He was inspirational in class and as an advisor. I was in awe of him as an undergrad and as a graduate student whose Master's thesis he gladly agreed to oversee. He was gentle and brilliant and caring. I used to talk about him to my husband after classes about how amazing his lectures were. Then at an English Dept. party one evening, my husband had an opportunity to speak with him. They discussed the Saints! After that whenever I talked about him as some sort of demi-god, my husband would remind me that he was human because he liked football. I still have all my notes from his lectures, and I'll continue to treasure them, just as I treasure his memory. Thank you, Dr. Magaw, for educating so many of us.

Dr. Magaw was one of my favorite Professors at UNO, and I remember with great joy his classes. He was gracious enough to provide me with a letter of recommendation when I set out to enter Graduate Studies.
He will be deeply missed by all who remember him, and joyfully remembered by all who knew him.

Dr. Magaw was one of my favorite college professors. I am a college professor myself now, and can tell you that he absolutely influenced my teaching style. This loss is great, but his influence remains, and is greater.

Dr. Magaw changed my life. One day in class, when I was an undergrad at UNO, he read an announcement for an on-campus job. He was the only one of my four English professors who took the time to read it, even though everyone in the department had been asked to. More than forty years later, I can truly say that I wouldn't be where I am now had I not gotten that job. I wouldn't have met my wife, and we wouldn't have had our daughter, had I not gotten that job. And now, whenever I'm asked to read an announcement, I read it, and I think of Dr. Magaw. One last time, may I say, "Thank you, Dr. Magaw." He was a wonderful man and an outstanding teacher. May God rest his soul.

Dr. Magaw was my major professor on my way to a master's in English at UNO. Dr. Magaw was a great teacher and a great gentleman.
