Manuel Perez Obituary

"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides" Manuel Marie Perez Jr. (El' Guyago, EZ Money, Hustler, Daddy, Pawpaw), 86, of Violet, LA. entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 22, 2022. He leaves behind a huge hole in the loving hearts of his wife of 66 years Geraldine Couture Perez, his five children Gregory Perez Sr. (Trudy), Cathy Perez Goutierrez (Tony), Claudia Perez Casanova (David), Brian Perez Sr., Lorraine Perez (John). He carried the Perez name strong with five generations that include 12 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 8 Great Great Grandchildren.Manuel was born Feb 20,1936 to the late Manuel Marie Alonso Perez Sr. and Florence Nunez Perez. Raised in Shell Beach, Louisiana his love for the water and boats never left his heart. A once licensed driver of passenger carrying vessels, who also proudly carried a merchant marine license, and a self employed, self taught retired diesel marine mechanic who was a proud former owner of Perez Marine. He built his family's life sharing his love for the bayou, a "smooth" luxury car, and the value of always being surrounded with family right in the heart of violet. Even in his 80's and years after retiring his business you could find Manuel in the yard working on a boat. He took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was all his: a fedora or cowboy hat, a pair of sunglasses, and his shirt unbuttoned a few buttons down with a keep it moving cigar in his mouth to add his extra special touch. He was a man his wife was proud of, all of his Children and grandchildren looked up to, And a friend to everyone he met. His hugs were warm. His jokes were funny, and he always smelled good. Happiness along with satisfaction is a life lived in true manner and the big beautiful family he leaves behind proves he lived 86 wonderful years. Now he's reunited with his parents, siblings, and two angel grandsons Darrell Gonzales Jr and David Casanova Jr to live eternal life with our Heavenly Father. We would like to invite family and friends of Manuel to honor his life at St Bernard Catholic Church 2805 Bayou Rd. St. Bernard, LA. 70085 on Thursday July 7th. Private Visitation will start for immediate family at 9:30am. Followed with family and friends @10am, a mass scheduled for 11am. -Written by his granddaughter Ericka Perez.

Holding Hands

July 10, 2022

You held my hand when our life together begun, you held it tight when mine was done. I know how much you are going to miss me, I'll miss you too but it was my time to leave. Don't think of me gone because I'm not in your sight, I'm holding your hand now all day and every night. I have no more weakness and no pain, so be happy I'm strong and healthy again. This family is a part of who I am, I'm so glad I got to hold each of your hands. I know my passing left a heartache you will always feel, but our love made memories that nobody can steal.

Hi Gregg. I´m truly sorry to hear of your loss. I never met your dad, but reading comments and viewing photos, I wish I had that opportunity. Photos of him surrounded by family and grandkids shows just how rich in spirit he was. My dad passed away in 2003. Sometimes I surprise myself when words come out of my mouth and I, or others hear my dad talking. I´m sure there is a lot more of your dad in you than you know.

It's hard without you here dad, we are trying to be strong and go on like you always had. Mama is doing okay for now, Cathy, Claudia, and Brian will make it through, but Lorraine needs some blessings to get well soon. If I would have known the last time that I saw you, I wouldn't see you again, I would have hugged you tighter because it was overdue. There is one thing I need to say, I wish I would have told you that I love you every day. When my time here comes to an end, I know you will be the one reaching out to get your son like you did when my life begun.

I love you daddy and there won´t be a day that will go by that I won´t think of you. Words can not express how bad I´m hurting to know I won´t see you again on this earth. Till we meet again I know you will be there with open arms to lead me into the pearly gates with God
