Marie Gros Obituary

Marie Edna Laforest Gros (Anna), a loving homemaker, died at her residence on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the age of 86. She was a native of Luling, LA and a long time resident of Harvey, LA. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Harvey. She was the beloved wife of Alton E. Gros, Sr. for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Pierre Laforest and Beatrice Clement Laforest Durocher and her brother, Paul Laforest. Sister-in-law of Lizzie Gros and the late Malvina Gros. Mother of Donald Gros, Sally G. Vedros, Alton E. Gros, Jr. (A.J.) and Janes Champagne. Mother-in-law of Mary W. Gros, Geri T. Gros, Brian Champagne and the late Wilton Vedros. Grandmother of Gerald Vedros, Lori V. Kravet, Ward Gros, Charles (Woody) Gros, Marie C. Boudoin, Marie C. Boudoin, Tammy G. Heitmeir, John Gros, Valerie V. White, Donna G. Quigley, Bernadette C. Lanata, Sandy C. Phillip and Andrew Gros. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, friends and family. A child care provider for Josh Blanchard. Relatives and friends of the family; employees of the Jefferson Parish School Board, Northrop Grumman Ship Systems - Avondale Operations, Occidental Chemical Plant and Dr. Tamer Acikalin and medical staff are invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial from the Chapel of WESTSIDE/ LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home on Saturday, August 30, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A special thanks from Marie E. Gros to Dr. William Long and staff; Dr. Kenneth Malmstrom of Family Doctors; the doctors, nurses and staff of West Jefferson Hospital Progressive Home Health Care, Innovations Hospice Services, Dewit, Rackley and staff of the Prescription Pad and Sistters, especially Sheila Barnes and Janis Roussell; devoted daughter-in-law, Geri Gross; and my loving family for all the tender care given to me during my lenghty illness. I LOVE YOU ALL.

Dear Sally and family:

Bob joins me in sending our sincere sympathy to all of you on the loss of your Mom. She was blessed with the most caring family that we have ever known. Your loving attention made it possible for her to live a long and beautiful life. I know you will miss her, but she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. May your fond memories sustain you over the years. God bless you all.
