Mary Cooper Obituary

Mary Lucinda Cooper died on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Iven Cooper and Mildred Grace Pilgrim and her sisters, Frances Pilgrim and Honora Rieth. She is survived by her sister, Laura Pilgrim; her nieces, Laura Steingrube Sorrell and Andrea Steingrube; a nephew, Christopher Steingrube and numerous loving great nieces, nephews, cousins and cats who will dearly miss their caretaker: Mollie, Snowy, Louie and Frankey. Mary Lu was a genealogy librarian for Jefferson Parish Library and a former librarian for the Sangamon County Library System in Springfield, Illinois. She was a life member of Kiwanis International, a reader and parishioner of St. Louis Cathedral and was passionate about rescuing cats. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine Alley in New Orleans on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Lu's memory may be made to the Louisiana SPCA, https://www.la-spca.org.
