Maurice Stewart Sr.

1964 - 2022

Maurice Charles Stewart, Sr., passed at the age of 58 on December 11, 2022. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 20, 1964, to Herman Henry, Sr., and Barbara Dotson Stewart. Maurice is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dotson Stewart, with whom he had a very close relationship, grandmother, Jessie Mae Collins, and sisters, England Stewart Randolph, Yolanda Stewart Johnson, Latrice Darnell-Henry, and good friends, Vernon, Tony, Warren, and Shine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Maurice Charles Stewart, Jr. and Barbara Lynique Stewart, father, Herman Henry, Sr., sisters, Debbie Dotson-Smothers, Gaggie Michelle King, Renee Stewart-Caliste, brothers, Malcolm Stewart, Herman Henry, Jr., grandchildren, Isabel Stewart, Emrie Stewart, King Stewart, his Uncle Tyrone Jackson, and his friends; Travis, Jeffery, and Kevin "Pigg" Franklin. Maurice graduated from Carver High School and has been employed with the New Orleans Water & Sewage Board for 26 years. Maurice loved to collect antiques and trains. He loved bragging about his children and grandchildren. If you knew Maurice, you knew him and you knew what he Loved to boast about. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, starting at 9:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 11:00 am.
